The Healthy Food Retail Evidence and Action Hub is an initiative of the UNICEF East-Asia and Pacific Office (EAPRO) and Deakin University (Australia) throughout the Global Centre for Preventive Nutrition and Health, in collaboration with partner organisations in East Asia and the Pacific region. This Hub is a response to the changing retail food environment in East Asia and the Pacific. Every year, more and more supermarkets, convenience stores and fast-food outlets open in this region, meaning that children and young people are growing up surrounded by unhealthy food choices.
It is time for a change! This Evidence and Action Hub aims to connect those who share the common aim of improving the healthiness of retail food environments in East Asia and the Pacific (and beyond!). Working together we can build healthier stores and turn back the tide of obesity and other diet-related diseases.
The Healthy Food Retail Evidence and Action Hub seeks to:
- Provide a platform for sharing information about retail food environments.
- Act as a repository of key documents related to improving the healthiness of retail food environments.
- Advocate for policies and actions to promote healthier retail food environments.
